Party
at Anne and Richard's
I went to a party on May
4 hosted by my friends Anne Abler and Richard Woodworth. Every year at
Jazzfest they rent the same apartment on Bourbon Street - a place big
enough for a pretty nice gathering. This year they hired a three-piece
band with Tim Laughlin on clarinet, Amy Sharpe on banjo and Al Bernard
on string bass. Richard is a reed player, and he sat in on some of the
numbers. Anne played washboard for one piece. Some other partygoers
brought instruments and played in a few numbers, and some others sang.
Here is Richard with his
soprano sax, with Second Line Eddie dancing.
From left to right are Jenni
Johnson (a singer), Jose Garcia and Richard Eager. Jenni has a web site
at jennijohnson.net.
Going around the circle
are Richard on soprano sax, Helen from the New Orleans Jazz Society, Al
Bernard on string bass, Amy Sharpe on banjo, Tim Laughlin on clarinet
and Jose Garcia.
From left to right: Tim
Laughlin, Jenni Johnson, Thais Clark (a singer who performs at Jazzfest
every year) and Richard Eager.
The trumpet player is
Jean-Marie. He leads a band in Paris called Fidgety Feet.
